CONEY ISLAND CHALLENGE RACE—Up and running for 2016
Run and walk on water for St Anne’s Parish Church, Strandhill!
The Coney Island Challenge will take place again this year on Saturday 15 October. Start time will be 12 Noon from Sligo Rugby Club, Strandhill.
All who register and pay on-line (€20) will be be timed via chip and pin with an official race number and the first 400 registered will receive a special commemorative T-shirt.
Interest has been high in this year’s event and early booking is advised as there will be a cap of 500 athletes for this year’s event. Online registration is now open for the Coney Island Challenge Races.

The event will be held on Saturday October 15th at 12 noon, 2016. Both runs will go onto the island this time. The 10k run and walk start at Sligo Rugby Club, go about 300 metres and turn left just past Sonny Bree’s pub. The route then then goes down the lane, onto the strand, past Doon Patrick Island and onto Coney Island following the same route as the 10 mile run to the back of the island as far as Carter’s Beach and then back the same way. The 10 mile run is the same as last year. It goes along the Strandhill–Sligo road, down Coney Lane, across the causeway, onto the island and over to Carter’s Beach and then back the same way.
There will be chip and pin timing for all the athletes with a commemorative T-shirt for all finishers. Last year’s race attracted over 500 entrants. The start and finish is at Sligo Rugby Club with changing facilities and refreshments after the race.
